I have had a DAY at work this afternoon. Nothing particularly bad has happened--just a number of small irritations have piled on top of one another to bring my stress level up.
Luckily, there is an easy pranayama (breath) practice that can help alleviate the tension.
Nadi Shodhana Pranayama or Alternate Nostril Breathing
Start by folding the middle and pointer finger of your right hand towards your palm.
Place your thumb near the top right of your nostril and your pinky and ring finger towards the top left.
If this is uncomfortable, you can keep your middle and index finger straight and rest them against your third eye as shown below.
Take an inhale through both nostrils, then seal your right nostril with your thumb and exhale through the left nostrils. Inhale through the left nostril, seal the left nostril with your ring and pinky finger, then exhale through the right nostril.
Congratulations! You've completed one round. Complete five rounds of Nadi Shodhana Pranayama, and you will feel ready to finish your afternoon.
